OK, so I was only 50-50 on the four voted off the show tonight.

My only real disappointment was that Amanda survived.  I really want to like her, but I just don’t think she has come close to her great Janis Joplin audition, and her first two weeks’ performances have been very disappointing to me.  I really think she could still redeem herself with better song choices.

Season 7 is shaping up to be really special; and I’m sure that we can look forward to some very special nights ahead.  I can’t wait for next week…

Well, I really think that Carly stole the show tonight.  She was just great, and I really think she will  be around until the final four.  I also liked Ramiele and Asia’H.  I think Brooke gave a solid performance, but I didn’t think she was as good as the accolades she received.

As to who goes home, my guess is Amanda and Alaina.

The show started slowly for me, but ended strong.  It’s still extremely early, but can you imagine a scenario where David Archuleto is not in the final 4?  I don’t think it premature to predict that he will be one of the most successful Idols of all times.

I also thought Chikezie gave a ‘breakout’ performance.  The Hathaway song really suited his voice.  David Hernandez was a close third place finisher.

Beyond these three, I thought everyone else was quite ordinary.  My guess is that Jason Yeager & Danny Noriega will be the next two guys eliminated.

I could actually picture three David’s making it to the final four guys…..

Well, I did not see a knock out performance, but I thought that Carly, Ramiele, and Asia gave the best performances, IMHO.

It will be interesting to see who is voted off for the girls.

The prelimary rounds are over, and now the audience gets their chance to vote.

I really thought young David Archuleta owned the first night of the competition.  He has an infectious personality, a pure voice; and he will be a force to be reckoned with in this competition.

For me, it was Robbie, Michael, and Jason Castro in a virtual tie for second place.

I think it was a huge mistake to cover Elvis, and I was surprised by several of the Idol song choices.

My guess is that Jason Y. and Colton will be the first to be eliminated on Thursday.

Wow!  It’s shaping up to be an outstanding season, and the overall talent level looks especially high.  There are definitely a few great male singers this year.  Last year, I felt the ladies had it all over the guys.

The Australian male is going to be a force to be reckoned with, and I’m really interested to see if the ‘rocker’ nurse can adapt her voice beyond the realm of rock-n-roll.

I would not want the job of making the next cut.  A lot of good singers will be sent home tonight.

Jordin really did a fantastic job singing the National Anthem at the Superbowl.  It’s not that easy a song to sing, especially under those conditions.  She was 100 % on key, and really showed off the exceptional range of her voice.

I thought it was one of the better Superbowls in memory from start to finish.

I’m really looking forward to watching Idol this week…….

Well, I’ve been watching the new season, and I must say that there have been some interesting characters, and a variety of talent.  I can’t say that anyone has jumped out at me; and made me think - this is the next American Idol.

As always, the great enjoyment of watching the season unfold is directly related to how the individual artists change and grow into the season’s challenges.

I can’t wait until the scene moves on to Hollywood.

Well, I watched the first night of Idol, and I must say that no one really stood out as a favorite.  There were plenty of memorable performances, but unfortunately, memorable for the wrong reasons.

Unfortunately, I was unable to watch the Wednesday show live, however I did TIVO it; and plan on watching this weekend.

Does anyone have any thoughts or comments about week one?

I hope you will join me as we go through the season from the very beginning to end.

Who will be the next American Idol?

The awards just keep coming for Carrie.  She repeats as female artist of the year, and shared a second award with her producer for single of the year.  She continues to live out her dream.

I just heard Carrie’s new CD which is entitled, Carnival Ride.  It’s very solid, and I really liked all the tracks.  I’m betting it will be a huge commercial success.  ‘All American Girl’ is a sure hit on the charts.

BTW, it was great to see Kellie Pickler’s emotional performance of  ’I Wonder’ performed at the CMA awards.  I would love to have seen Brad Paisley on tour with Kellie and Taylor Swift this year.  It must have been a fun show.

Who is your favorite Idol of all time? For me, it is Carrie Underwood. It’s hard to fathom how a small town country girl, who grew up doing farm chores, and a self-admitted ‘tom-boy’ has turned into a country music superstar over night. She is a beautiful girl, with an incredible voice, and has made wise choices in the songs that she has recorded.

Her upside is tremendous.  She sold over 6 million copies on her first CD, which for many artists is their career CD sales total.  Is it unrealistic to think that Carrie will be one of the most successful female country artists of all time? I wouldn’t want to bet against her. Cool

I have very few ‘can’t miss’ shows on TV. American Idol is at the very top of my ‘can’t miss’ list.  It is, by far, my favorite show. It is a great joy to watch these young idols grow over the course of the season.  I am upset when one of my favorites is voted off the show, and I am thrilled when one of my favorites does well.

I was devastated when Chris Daughtry was voted off the show, but gratified to see how he used Idol to launch an exciting career.

I was thrilled when Kelly and Carrie won, as they were my all time two favorites.  It has been equally satisfying to watch their careers progress.

It has been an equal joy to watch the careers of Kellie Pickler, Bucky Covington, and my all time sentimental favorite Elliott Yamin unfold - and what about the performance of Jennifer Hudson in ‘Dreamgirls’?  She was awesome.

I am waiting with anticipation to see what the future holds for Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis.

I can hardly wait for season 7 to begin! How about you?
